Monday's Terror Attack Planned in Iran

April 18, 2006

Monday's murder of 8 Israeli civilians was planned in Teheran, Iran and carried out by a 16 year old boy from Tubas, Israel. According to former counter-terrorism officers of the Israeli Defense Force, the deadly attack was a premeditated act of terror intended to correspond with the April 15 - 16 Teheran conference in support of the Palestinian cause. This may have been the first time in Israel's history when a terror attack was planned outside of Israel, yet executed in the heart of Israel's Tel Aviv population center.

Four key figures of several terror organizations met in Teheran, Iran to coordinate efforts and execute a terror attack on Israeli soil. The chief of the Damascus, Syria based branch of Islamic Jihad, Ramadan Shalah, along with Mohammed Al Hindi, Commander of the Gaza branch of Islamic Jihad, Sheik Naim Qassem, Hezbollah's second in Command, and General Qasim Suleimani, commander of the Al Quds Brigade of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards met in the Iranian capital last week to finalize the plans for Monday's deadly attack.

The terrorist who implemented the attack was Sami Salim Hammed, 16, from Tubas, Israel. Tubas is a small town in Samaria located approximately 10 miles south-east of Jenin. Within hours after the attack the IDF had surrounded Tubas and made several arrests. Hammed was associated with the Al Aqsa Suicide Brigades under the direction of Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization. It is believed that Al Aqsa had knowledge of the imminent attack and facilitated Hammed in reaching Tel Aviv to carry out the attack.

Dan Gillerman, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, in an address to the general assembly said yesterday that the attack was a direct result of a new Axis of Terror which included Iran, Syria, and the Palestinians. These three nations are part of the coalition referred to as the Axis of Evil elsewhere in the world. Now their joint cooperation has resulted in a direct attack on the nation of Israel.

The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called for the annihilation of Israel. There is now evidence that the latest attack on Israel was planned in the capital of Iran. What will happen if Iran becomes a nuclear threat to the Middle East? Will they stop at the planning of bombing Tel Aviv restaurants or will they execute their supreme objective of annihilating the nation of Israel?

Israel has a new threat that is evidenced by this latest attack. Foreign terrorist organizations are planning the attacks in their own nations and cooperating with the Palestinian Authority to carry out the attacks in Israel. The IDF has had over 70 recent reports of individuals and terrorist organizations planning operations within their own country, now they must also be concerned with the planning of operations outside of Israel.
