Blue Robe of High Priest going on Display
December 10, 2005

The Blue Robe to be worn by the next High Priest of Israel will be going on display next week in the city of Jerusalem. The Temple Institute in Jerusalem has been diligently working on the implements and vestments for the future Temple, and will be unveiling their newest accomplishment on Wednesday, December 14. The robe, stained in a special dye, is a major achievement in the preparations for the rebuilding of the Third Temple.
The Blue Robe of the High Priest is worn on the outside of the white linen garments. This robe identifies the High Priest as a royal ambassador of God. According to Exodus 28 the robe is to be a seamless garment woven completely of blue wool. The blue dye needed for this special purpose has been unavailable for centuries but has now been rediscovered. The dye is extracted from a small snail found only in the Mediterranean Sea and has only been recently identified as the royal color of the High Priestly robes.
The manufacture of priestly garments is not new at the Temple Institute. For years they have been diligently preparing the white linen garments that will be worn by the present day sons of Levi known as the Cohen. Today, qualified men from all around the world can call in and order their priestly garments.
The Temple Institute was founded in 1987 for the express purpose of preparing the implements for the third Temple. They have succeeded in discovering or remaking many of the utensils and furniture that will one day be used in the Temple services. The Menorah has been crafted from a solid piece of beaten gold and stands at over five feet. The Table of Showbread is prepared and is beautifully assembled. The golden Altar of Incense is available as well as the Laver and countless other vessels that will be used in the upcoming Temple.
There are also musical instruments that have been hand crafted for use in the upcoming Temple. Music was once an intricate part of Temple worship. Entire choirs of Levites would play harps and trumpets at special Holidays and Festivals throughout the year. A relief on the Arch of Titus displays trumpets that were looted from the second temple. The Temple Institute has recreated silver trumpets of exquisite craftsmanship. These instruments will be sounded at the dedication of the next Temple. Golden harps have also been recreated from an archeological discovery. Jewish tradition states that Israel can expect her Messiah soon after the appearance of these harps in Jerusalem.
Harps of gold, trumpets of silver and now royal blue robes tailored for the High Priest all point to a soon coming Messiah for the Jewish people. According to scripture the Third Temple will stand in Jerusalem. The Temple Institute is just one group that is diligently preparing for that inevitable day.
