Haetzni: Aim of Annapolis to Produce Two “Dependent” States
November 29, 2007
Former Knesset member Elyakim Haetzni emphatically stated this week at the New Jewish Congress in Jerusalem that the goal of Annapolis was the creation of two state-like entities dependent upon foreign protection. He contended that if Israel gave up sovereignty over Judea and Samaria then Israel would be forced to forfeit its rights of being a sovereign state.
The New Jewish Congress met for the first time in Jerusalem on the opening day of the Annapolis Conference in Annapolis, Maryland. A wide range of politicians and activist groups met to counteract the current Israeli leadership's intention of dividing Israel into two states. Rabbis, Knesset Members, and political activists spoke passionately concerning a wide range of reasons for keeping Israel one sovereign state. Their goal was to unite the Israeli public against the creation of a second state within the current boundaries of Israel.
Elyakim Haetzni's comments were met with thunderous applause as he concluded his stunning announcement. He stated that the purpose of the Annapolis conference was to "create two Quartet protectorates which are to entirely replace and eradicate the independent Jewish state of Israel." He said that Israel would become a Jewish state by name only and would no longer be militarily self reliant but would be forced to depend on outside sources for its defense. He also said that Israel would lose its current sovereignty because Israel's limited supporters worldwide would, perhaps, not speak out sufficiently on Israel's behalf.
Elyakim Haetzni was a member of Knesset from 1990-1992 as a member of the now disbanded Tehiya party. He immigrated to Israel in 1938 at the age of 12 and was active in the "Volunteers Ranks" from 1953-1957. He has experienced first hand Israel's bloody struggle for survival and is adamantly opposed to surrendering Judea and Samaria to the Palestinians for the creation of a second state.
The overwhelming atmosphere at the New Jewish Congress was one of solidarity against a two-state solution. The New Jewish Congress advocated for the current State of Israel to remain a sovereign Jewish state and repulse all attempts of dividing up its land.
