President Obama tells the Moslem world America is not a Christian nation
April 07, 2009
President Obama reached out to the Moslem world on his recent visit to Turkey, a Moslem nation, and made the statement that America is not a Christian nation, a statement made in an effort to reduce the tensions between the Moslem world and the West, in particular the US.
During his visit to Turkey, President Obama told its leaders, parliament and Turkish students that America is not a Christian, Jewish or Moslem nation, but a nation of citizens. The US president also made it clear that the US was not now nor will ever be in a war with Islam and he made this declaration in one of the major Moslem nations of the world, Turkey, who President Obama believes can be the bridge between the Moslem world and the West.
Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News
The declaration by President Obama that the US is not a Christian nation is technically correct, but philosophically and prophetically misleading.
In an effort to reach out to the Moslem world, President Obama said America is not a Christian nation which indeed is technically correct. However, it contradicts the philosophical understanding for decades that America is a nation based upon a Christian-Judeo ethic coming from the Word of God. It is very interesting that Obama made this statement in what is referred to as a Moslem nation, whatever that term means. Technically, President Obama is correct, the US is not a Christian nation even though it is made up of a mass majority of citizens who claim to be Christian.
This report speaks somewhat to the question that is often asked, "Is the US in Bible prophecy?" The answer to that question is "No". With the possible exception of a reference to America in Zechariah 14:2 where it says at the time just before Jesus returns to the earth, all nations, even the US if they are still around after seven years of judgment during the Tribulation, will gather at Jerusalem.
Remember however that before the Tribulation, the Rapture takes place and Christians depart this earth and go into Heaven to be with Jesus which could well render the US a nebulus entity, I Thessalonians 4:13-18 and I Corinthians 15:51-53.
